Judo Canada Selects Calgary for 2016-18 National Championships
Judo Canada is pleased to announce that the city of Calgary, Alberta has been selected from a process in which over 10 cities were involved to be host to the 2016-18 National Judo Championships. The event will be held at the Calgary Oval in May of each of 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Sport Development Director Position
Judo BC is looking for an outstanding person to join our organization. Reporting to the Volunteer Board of Directors for Judo BC, the Sport Development Director (SDD) is responsible for contributing to and enacting technical components of strategic plan. They will also act as Head Coach for Judo BC, organizing the annual plan and working with volunteer regional coaches and athletes.

NCCP Competition Development Course in BC!
It’s official Judo BC will be hosting a Judo Canada NCCP Competition Development course in August 2015! The tentative dates are August 20 – 23 and the location is to be confirmed but will likely be in the Metro Vancouver area.  This course is equivalent to the old NCCP level 3 course and the prerequisites are:
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Minimum rank of Shodan
  • Dojo Instructor trained (attended a DI course and completed the MED online evaluation – equivalent to the old NCCP level 2)
  • Completion of the multisport Comp Dev modules:
    • Coaching & Leading Effectively
    • Developing Athletic Abilities
    • Prevention & Recovery
    • Psychology of Performance
    • Leading Drug Free Sport
    • Managing Conflict

All of the multisport modules are offered by Coaches ViaSport (classroom or online) and here is a link to the course schedule:

Once you have taken these multi sport modules please let us know so that we can add you to the list of people eligible for the Comp Dev course.

Judo BC Winter Training Camp Featuring Former National Coach Sensei Nakamura
Judo BC would like to thank Sensei Nakamura for coming to lead and share his knowledge with us at the Winter Training Camp December 27-30 at the Abbotsford Judo Club.
